02 · Hive · The human network

Trust travels through people.

The second step. The doors that matter open through humans who are trusted on both sides. Hive is that network made visible: trusted people making introductions to decision makers, opt-in every step, and rewarded when they land.

  1. 01Ask

A Seeker names the audience they need to reach, not a name: the buyer of legal capability for Defence, say.

  2. 02Connect

A Connector who already holds that trust asks the decision maker whether an introduction is welcome. Only a yes moves forward.

  3. 03Reward

The three meet. The Connector is rewarded for the trust it took years to build, and reputation follows every introduction.

A worked example

A legal services chief executive needs the person who buys legal capability for Australian Defence. She does not hold that relationship. A Connector does, and asks whether an introduction is welcome. It is. The three meet. The Connector is rewarded. Nobody was cold-called.

  • Opt-in on every side

No one is introduced without saying yes first. The decision maker is asked before anything moves. A network that skips that step is not a network. It is a list.

  • Trust is the currency

Connectors are rewarded for the relationships they already hold and the reputation they put behind them, never for volume.

  • Audiences, not names

A Seeker describes who they need to reach. The network finds the human who can make it real.

  • Everyone leaves better off

Seeker, Connector and decision maker each gain something worth having. That is the only kind of introduction Hive makes.
